The Start of Forever

On July 19th 2011, my love, Samuel Laramie Knotts and I were sealed together in the Draper, Utah Temple. It was an amazing day. It was great to have many friends and family there in support for Sam and I.

After I changed and got into my wedding dress and walked by the the waiting room with my Mom, she told me to wait there for a moment. So I waited and then walked around the corner to where my new husband was waiting. I will always remember the expression on his face when he first saw me. He stood up slowly and took a few steps toward me. He grabbed my hand and after counting to 10 we walked out the doors to where our friends and family were waiting to greet us.

As we walked out the wind was blowing much more than I expected and my veil just seemed to blow right into Sam's face. But the crowd was all cheering and we made the best of the windy situation.

We all headed to the back of the temple for pictures where the wind was a bit less. I think we got some fabulous shots with everyone. After a while most people left and headed to the church for the luncheon. While that happened my parents, Sam & I stayed to get a few more shots. After changing back into our clothes my parents left and Sam & I got into his car to head back to the church.

At the luncheon after the introductions and the prayer we all got to eat the delectable meal that Sam's parents had catered. We had a green salad, rolls and pasta with a choice of a red marina sauce with meatballs or a white chicken fettuccine. For the dessert there was a variety 0f cookies and bars. As we finished up eating, my Dad asked if there was anyone who wanted to give a toast or advice. There was some really great things said, and hopefully we will get a copy from my Aunt Teresa, who filmed it.

By this time, Sam & I were dragging a little bit and wanted to go back to my parent's house for a nap. Unfortunately the silence did not last long before everyone started trickling in. We put in the slide show and watched it a few times for everyone to see. So we were there for a while and then before we knew it, it was time to head to the reception. All the cars were packed up and the caravan began. I went with Sam & my Mom and we had to make one stop to Costco to pick up the cheesecakes. When we got there my Mom got out and went it while Sam and I were told to just circle the parking lot a few times and wait there for her. It took a little longer than expected because of a slight complication, but as soon as she came out and we were all loaded up we were on our way.

When we got to Le Jardin I rushed into the Bride's room to change into my dress. My bridesmaids also helped me, which was a real blessing. Shortly thereafter and after a few long, deep breaths I was ready for the evening. As I emerged all of the wedding party were called together to get a few more pictures. Before we finished the pictures we had a few guests arriving and the line of my parents, Sam's parents and Sam & I were in places to greet the people that wanted to celebrate with us.

The night seem to go faster than I thought and some of it seemed to blend together. Before I knew it, it was already 8:30, the time we planned to cut the cake etc. Sam and I make our way over to our lovely cake and after a few pictures we cut into the cake. We dished it up and put it on a plate. I handed Sam a fork and we each took a piece. Then we tried to feed each other. We both missed on our first tries. I got it into Sam's mouth the 2nd time, but he again failed. We just laughed it off and I even tried feeding myself to no avail......so Sam on the 3rd try was very careful and finally got it in. After that the guests could come and get the cake while it was time for dancing. My brother, William, started the song, "The Way You Look Tonight" and my Dad and I began dancing. Then Sam & his mother began dancing. Shortly after the words began my Dad tapped Sam on the shoulder and he took over. It was good to be dancing in the arms of my husband. We shared a few kisses and then noticed that each of our parents had also taken to the dance floor as well as Clarissa & Jed (Sam's brother and sister-in-law). Towards the end of the song Sam twirled me and then dipped me. The whole dance was so picturesque. Then a few more people had arrived (most of them being from my old ward: Glenmoor 6th), they came late because of a ward activity that was planned for the same night, but I was glad to see them all there. After the line had ended I took a seat on a bench and Sam reached under my dress and pulled down the garter. He looked at me and wasn't sure what to do with it, so our photographer, Glenda Hurd, told Sam to turn around and flick it towards the single men in the audience. He did so but it didn't go very far and my cousin, Austin Andersen, was the lucky young man to get it. Next it was time for the bouquet. I decided to be a little different and be a little more fair, so I picked up my dress and turned around a few times before closing my eyes and tossing it. It was caught by my sister, Marietta.

After all that had taken place Sam & I grabbed a plate of food to eat before we changed and left on our honeymoon. I thought I was really hungry but I could only eat the sandwich and half the fruit. I tried taking a few bites of the cheesecake, but it was just so rich. After that Sam & I changed quickly because we didn't want to stay and linger any longer. After making sure we had everything we decided it was time to make our exit. Our guests were outside with bubbles and waiting for us to emerge. We made our way out and made our way to Sam's car. When we saw what had happened to us, we were both surprised. There was writing all over the windows and paper everywhere. There were whole sheets of colored scratch paper as well as loads and loads of confetti. After Sam opened the door for me people were calling for us to get in, but the paper was so high that I had to remove some of it before I could. We tossed a lot of it in the back seat but there was still confetti everywhere. After Sam & I had both gotten in an buckled we began to back out. Mike (my oldest brother) told us that we should try the blinkers. So Sam flicked the switch which was met with a siren that Mike had installed.

We were finally on our way to our hotel and after a quick u-turn and several honks from people we had reached our destination, Castle Creek Inn. We were so excited to be alone and to get some time to relax after the day. But it will always be a memorable day that we will remember forever.
