I am very thankful for a wonderful husband who can support my education and how time consuming it can be. This post is about my Student Teaching experience I had at Cherry Creek Elementary in Springville in Mrs. Taylor's 3rd grade class. The whole experience was filled with ups and downs. It went from January 9th - March 30th. Below are some pictures of the classroom I was in and some of the activities.
This is the word wall that is in the classroom I know that I definitely use one of
these in my future classroom.
These are extra storage cupboards. The chart on the left is to chart the progress of their multiplication. The one on the far right is the check in chart to see what the students want for lunch.
This was the rotation chart. Each student is assigned to a group based on their reading. Each group would be doing something different for each rotation to keep them progressing.
This is one seating chart that occurred during the time I was there.
I was VIP for a week. This is the poster that I created. It shows a picture of our wedding and my family. The filmstrip is representing my love of movies, the pumpkin show that I love Halloween. The bottom picture shows Sam & I and then the last one is my love of baking and cookies. It was fun sharing these facts with the students.
This is a poster I created to show the vocabulary that me and my students found while reading Charlotte's Web. I thought it was a fun and creative way to get students to see unfamiliar words and get them to look them up. I also read some other books with other groups, but I didn't have the time to create a vocab poster, but I do know that I want to continue things like this in the future.
This was a pretty normal day in this classroom and some days it seemed to drag on, but others it was like, where did the time go?
This was one geometry lesson I taught about the different types of triangles. I had pre-cut the different lengths to show the different types. The students were put into groups and then had to measure the strips and then from what I had taught them about the similarities and differences between the triangles they had to construct the triangles. I thought it was a successful lesson
On my last day of student teaching we went outside and took these pictures. I sure will miss these students and I learned a lot from them as well as my cooperating teacher. I know that Sam is glad that I am finished and that things will get back to normal. No more crazy planning lessons until 2 am....at least until I get an official teaching position. And our house will be a bit cleaner.....once I sort through all the papers, keep up with dishes and laundry and keep dinner coming.
This is one sign that I would like make my own of and have in my classroom. It seems very fitting and I tried to follow it each day.
